The management of TruFocals has a broad range of relevant experience.

Adrian Koppes, CEO

Co-founding TruFocals was a natural next step for Mr. Koppes after holding senior positions in other companies serving the ophthalmic community. Before coming to TruFocals, he was Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Milvella, an innovative developer of devices for ophthalmic surgery. At Chiron Vision, as a divisional Vice President and General Manager, he led the successful globalization of the LASIK procedure. Mr. Koppes has also held senior management positions at Allergan, Swedish Match and Procter & Gamble.

Stephen Kurtin, Chief Technologist

For the past 30 years Dr. Kurtin has specialized in the invention, development and licensing of innovative products in the fields of optics, electronics and mechanisms. He has been issued over 30 U.S. patents, and was for several years the president of a public company. Clients and licensees include Aston Martin (UK), IBM, Gillette, Zenith Data Systems and Brentwood Associates. Dr. Kurtin holds S.B. and S.M. degrees from MIT and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Caltech.

Dr. Paul Super, Vice President – Sales

Dr. Super, a co-founder of TruFocals, is a licensed optometrist. A Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, he serves on staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and has been an assistant clinical professor at SUNY Optometry. He has served as optometric consultant to the South African Institute of Aviation Medicine, and has participated in research studies for a number of organizations including Ciba Vision, Johnson and Johnson, Bausch & Lomb and UCLA Medical School.

Steven Hecker, Vice President – Operations

Mr. Hecker, another co-founder of TruFocals, has substantial experience in high quality product design, development and manufacturing. As Director of Engineering at Memcorp, he helped bring to market over 20 innovations. As Director of New Product Development at Applica, the sole licensee for Black & Decker brand housewares, he was responsible for successfully introducing over 15 new-technology products.
